We Have to be in the Lobby at What Time?!

This morning was an early morning.  I went to breakfast at 6:15 this morning which means I was up at 5:30 getting ready.  We had our first School Orientation meeting today at the Hilton hotel, about a 20 minute bus ride away.  We arrived at the Hilton and were escorted up to our meeting room where we were again greeted by members of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).  I saw the gentlemen that interviewed me.  We turned in our contracts, signed and initialed on every page and took a seat in the front row.  I am not about missing anything they say, so the less distractions I have, the better, so front row it is!  We had 4 wonderful speakers talking to us about various things, such as sick leave, dos and don'ts with colleagues and students, our ADEC website and how to navigate it.  There was also a question and answer portion.
They then dismissed us and informed us of the ADEC representatives from the different places (Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Al Gharbia) and told us we could ask them any questions we wanted to.  I was informed by my representative that I would be in a nice 2 bedroom apartment/villa which sounds amazing!  There is a bus that will take me out to school since it is about an hour plus to my school from where I'll be living.  I like that I have that option, but was encouraged to rent a car because if I do take the bus, I have to wait for others.
After we returned to our hotel, Rebecca, Casey and I decided to go get something to eat at the mall.  I decided to try Burger King, it definitely was not what I expected.  Burger King in the states claims that they have charbroiled burgers, mine I'm pretty sure was nuked in the microwave.  BUT, lesson learned.  The Coke however was delicious and I was informed that was because it is made with real sugar!  We went hotel grocery shopping (what can you really buy when you're living in a hotel) at LuLu's.  We came back and I took a short nap and watched the Today Show again, video chatted with my parents (that was an experience!) and just hung out.  I have started using ooVoo as my video chat mainly because it is easy to use and WORKS!  FaceTime for some reason isn't working, and I cannot for the life of me figure out Skype, so not user friendly!  So if anyone wants to video chat with me over ooVoo, just send me a text or message on Facebook and I'll give you my username.
I went to the jacuzzi again and had an interesting experience.  I brought track pants with me over my suit down to the locke room as well as a plain t-shirt.  I went to go get my key and when I asked for it, the lady asked me if I was in 2456, I said no, my room number was 2413.  She handed me a key card and right then and there I knew it wasn't right, but do you think I said anything to her?! Of course I didn't!  So I go all the way up to my room and sure enough the key doesn't work, so I have to head down to the front desk (I looked disgusting, hair half wet, sweaty because the jacuzzi was hot, carrying my swimsuit, oh yeah and I had no support on if you know what I mean!)  and tell them my key card isn't working so they give me a new one and I head back upstairs.  Quite embarrassing I must say, but hey you do what you gotta do right?!?!

Here is a video link about the town I will be living in!  I cannot wait to see all the right culture that is out there!
